Passing of Captain TJ Swiney
Wednesday, January 13, 2021

We are saddened to announce the passing of one of our own. Captain TJ Swiney passed away yesterday evening after fighting a nearly year-long battle with cancer.
TJ loved Elkridge with an unrivaled passion. He served the station as an active member for 46 years.
His contributions to the department over the years are far too many to list, but included running our rookie program, leading Thursday night duty crew, overseeing training and managing monthly breakfasts at the old station.
Every Elkridge firefighter has a “TJ story.” His presence at the station was constant throughout his years at EVFD. He will be missed by all of us, and we are grateful to have been his students.
Rest easy, Captain Swiney. We’ve got it from here.
Funeral arrangements will be forthcoming.
